About
Alana Moore (she/her) (b. 1988) is a chronically ill artist and community organizer living as a white settler on Treaty 6 Territory in rural Saskatchewan. Working through socially engaged methods, she combines fibre arts, printmaking, design, and participatory processes to explore vulnerability, chronic illness, interdependence, and white-settler responsibility. Her work centres care, humour, and domestic materials, using both object-based and process-driven approaches to build shared meaning with communities.
As an emerging artist, she has a growing body of work in group exhibitions and collaborations, and experience in art education, arts administration, and curatorial projects. Her role as Artist-in-Residence at Sherbrooke Community Centre integrates art into residents' lives, fostering connections that challenge societal perceptions of aging and illness. Moore was a mentor artist with FAM (Future Artistic Minds) from 2019 to 2025, a member of BAM (Bridges Art Movement), and previously served on the board for Commonweal Community Arts. Currently, she organizes with the Saskatoon chapter of SURJ (Showing Up for Racial Justice). In 2012, Moore obtained her BFA from the University of Saskatchewan.
Most recently, Moore was a lead artist alongside Amber Phelps Bondaroff for “Belong Where You Find Yourself,” a multi-year community-engaged art project through the Godfrey Dean Art Gallery in Yorkton, SK, for artists living with dementia and their care partners.
